Project author, composer, director, cellist

Alexandra Kobrina was born in Moscow. She graduated with honors from the Maimonides State Classical Academy (Professor A.E. Vasilyeva, Associate Professor A.D. Lukyanenko). Graduated from the assistantship-internship of the Moscow State P. I. Tchaikovsky Conservatory in the class "Orchestra of Contemporary Music".
Since 2020, as a cellist, she has been actively participating in the concerts of the Studio for New Music ensemble. Participated in the P2P project (supported by ProHelvetia), "Five Evenings", the Gnesin Contemporary Music Week festival, two Practicums of the MASM ensemble, etc.

She began her career as a composer in 2021.

The piece "Dreams of Shvankmayer" became the debut within the framework of the author's project at the Ground Solyanka Gallery (November 2021), combining musical improvisation and theatrical performance components. In the next production of the project, two more plays were presented, developing the direction - "Calligraphic sketch. Jan No. 37" and "Kitchen talk". On January 26, 2023, the opening of the New Instrumental Theater "NIT" at the Ground Solyanka Gallery took place. Two premieres were presented at the opening - "Ritual" and "Small Thread". Then, as part of SvetFest, a performance of Oscar Wilde's fairy tale "The Happy Prince" was performed, and for the first time on stage, a non-theatrical piece "Fimbulwinter" for flute, two clarinets and horn was performed.

I grew up in a theatrical family, I was given a good musical education. So to combine the two traditions, music and theatre, naturally became my creative task. Writing an opera is my childhood dream. What I'm doing now, I would describe as a kind of speechless opera, an opera without vocalists, whose role is taken by the instrumentalists. Combining theater and academic music, I rethink, I strive to extrapolate my worldview, perception of reality through pieces.
